Serotonin, known as 5-hydroxytryptamine or 5-HT is found mainly in the brain, bowels and blood vessels. It transmits the messages between nerve cells and contributes to general well-being and happiness. Its most important role is to maintain mood balance, social behavior, appetite and digestion, sleep, memory, and sexual desire. Low serotonin is known to cause depression. Nutmeg essential oil has a warm, spicy, and sweet aroma with hints of woody and slightly fruity notes. Nutmeg oil contains various chemical constituents, including myristicin, alpha-pinene, sabinene, and other compounds, which contribute to its therapeutic properties. Nutmeg oil is frequently suitable for dealing with kidney infections and kidney diseases. It may also help in dissolving kidney stones and accumulations of uric acid in other areas of the body, like those that result in gout and joint inflammation.
Pregnant women should avoid ingesting and topically applying undiluted essential oils throughout pregnancy. Instead, try inhaling essential oils or adding them to a diffuser.
Make sure to store essential oils out of reach of children. You¡¯ll also want to keep your oils away from excessive light or heat, as this can alter the chemical properties of an essential oil significantly.
Always supervise essential oil application with your children. Because children have more delicate skin, it¡¯s a good idea to dilute oils before applying them topically.
